Weta Cave Workshop Tour
Make your own way to the Wellington i-SITE (Corner Victoria and Wakefield Street, Wellington, 6011), where you will be met by your Lions Rugby Travel Representatives, and you will begin your journey from central Wellington to the Weta Cave in a dedicated ‘There & Back Again’ shuttle. Weta Studio Tours is your gateway to an immersive filmmaking experience in Wellington. There and Back Again…The Full Experience takes you inside the world of creative design and practical effects facility Weta Workshop, with a guided round trip! Your ticket includes return transfers from Wellington i-SITE to Weta Studio Tours in Miramar, with two behind-the-scenes tours: Weta Cave Workshop Tour, and Thunderbirds Are Go Behind-the-Scenes Experience. We can’t take you inside the Workshop itself, but rest assured – we’ll get you as close as we possibly can.
Your knowledgeable driver will highlight iconic film sites of Wellington as you journey to Weta Studio Tours. On arrival, snap photos with a life-sized Hobbit hole, wander through the mini museum, and browse the Weta Cave retail store. Your ticket includes priority seating to the documentary about Weta’s creativity.
An experienced Weta Workshop crew member will then guide you on a tour through a converted area of the Workshop. Get up close to the props, costumes, and weapons from films like The Lord of the Rings, Avatar, and District 9. Hear tales of filmmaking, see artists working on the tour stage, and learn the secrets behind the movie magic! You’ll then step foot onto a real shooting stage with a journey through the authentic models and miniatures built by Weta Workshop for the popular children’s television show, Thunderbirds Are Go.
There and Back Again is the ideal tour option for visitors who want the full Weta Studio Tours experience!
